PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS

The Iten is the perfect light weight trainer. Built for your fast shorter runs, it's robust enough to keep you going if you chose to go longer.

TOE BOX

We brought the toe box down so when you flex your toes, the Iten will move with your foot. We also made the Iten just slightly wider than other speed work shoes, giving your toes just a bit more room to splay.

LIGHT WEIGHT

At a mere 7.9 oz (224 grams) for a men’s US size 9 (UK 8), the Iten will never be a drag when you pick up the pace.

FLEXIBLE

Your foot is a powerful set of muscles and tendons. When training, you want a shoe that gives your foot a full range of motion so your arch, ankle, and toes can build the strength and endurance you need. The Iten does just that.

4MM DROP

If you run barefoot, you’ll find yourself landing on your midfoot or forefoot. Having a big cushioned heel on your shoe can throw off this natural gait. So the Iten has only 4mm more cushioning in the heel than the forefoot to help you land naturally.

MIDSOLE CUPS HEEL

Whenever you take a turn or run across an uneven surface (like the crown of a road), your foot wants to move laterally. Since the Iten’s midsole cups the foot, it keeps you locked into the shoe even on the sharpest of turns.

Cultural Elements

More than just a great running shoe, the Iten is covered with little bits of the Kenyan running story.

JAMHURI LINES

Along the side of the Iten, you’ll find 12 lines for 12/12 - 12 December. Jamhuri day ,the day in 1963 when Kenya gained independence and exactly one year later when it became a republic.

GEOMETRIC PATTERNING

Whether Maasai  beading or Swahili lesos, you’ll see consistent repetition of triangle patterns in Kenyan design. We brought those same triangles to several different places on the Iten.

HARAMBEE

The national motto of Kenya means “all pull together”, and is used to refer to moments where communities come together to accomplish something individuals couldn’t do alone.

The Great Rift Valley

The groove on the heel of the Itens represent the escarpments and the floor of the Great Rift Valley.

The Name: Iten

It’s a big name from a small place. Iten is a small town nestled on Kenya’s Great Rift Valley that has produced the highest number of gold medals in distance running. It is also known as the home of champions.
