In 2016 more than 1,000 people from around the world came together to back a crowdfunding campaign to make the first Kenyan running shoe: our lightweight trainer, the Iten.
It took us a year to make them. It turns out making great running shoes in a whole new way is hard. But in August 2017, we shipped out the first batch of Itens and we were off and running.
Since then, we’ve been building shoes with no faux-tech gimmicks. Helping you Run Kenyan, while you give a bit back to Kenya.
So we promise you:
1. We help you
RUN KENYAN
We’re not saying our shoes will make you run a world record.
But if you train consistently in shoes designed to help you get the most from each workout, then you can see your running improve.
2. Our shoes are
Proudly Made in Kenya
We’re making the first high performance athletic shoes in Africa. But more than that, we make our products in a way that will have a positive impact on the world, and we constantly give back to communities in need.
So who are we?
Meet OUR FOUNDERS
NAVA & WELDON
Navalayo “Nava” Osembo and Weldon Kennedy met in 2015 over a mutual interest in dramatically increasing the amount Kenya benefits from its well earned reputation in running.
Nava is a lawyer and accountant born and raised in Kenyan running country. Weldon is a social activist and running shoe nerd.
We are a majority black-owned business, with Kenyans holding the majority of the company's shares. While we do have diverse minority shareholders, we are Kenyan founded, Kenyan led, and with majority Kenyan investment.

We've already mentioned this, but...
We’re serious about
Impact
We are proud to be a public benefit corporation, certified B-Corp, and Climate Neutral certified. These standards speak to our founding commitment to having the greatest positive impact possible.
We promise we will keep working on ways to improve our social impact and reduce our environmental impact. Often these efforts will involve the whole Enda Community, so we hope you'll join us.
