Omanyala makes his diamond league debut
Kenya’s sprint King made his diamond league debut this weekend. Omanyala was the fourth fastest in the lineup that included favorites in the 100m race, Bromell (9.77), Simbine Kerley (9.84) managed to come in fourth place in 10.02 seconds behind the US trio; Kerley Bromell and Norman that finished in first second and third respectively.
Kip Keino classic to begin on 18th September
The second of the Kip Keino Classic is set to be held on the 18th of September, 2021 in Nairobi at the Moi Kasarani stadium. The event that comes weeks after the recently concluded World Under-20 championships is set to crown the final leg of the world tour. Olympic gold medallists Wojciech Nowicki from Poland and Uganda’s Olympic champion Peruth Chemutai are among the top athletes to confirm participation at the Kip Keino Classic due September 18 in Nairobi. With just a few days to the event, many international athletes are yet to confirm participation. This is definitely one of the events we look forward to.
Kinyamal winning streak continues
800m champion Wycliffe Kinyamal powered to victory in poland winning the Kamila Skolimowska tour in Silesia, poland. The Commonwealth champion who missed out on the recently concluded Tokoyo Olympics set a meeting record to finish in 1.44.63. Kacper Lewaski and Great Britains Daniel Rowden finished second and third respectively.

Francine Niyonsaba Wins 5000m race
Francine who made headlines on Saturday (August 28) by producing the fifth-best women’s 3,000m times ever and winning the race managed to yet again flourish over the 5,000 race after clocking an impressive 14.25.34 to win the tight race that saw Ejgayehu Taye come second in 14.25.63. Helen Obiri came in third followed closely by her compatriot Margaret Kipkemboi who recorded a personal best of 14.27.12
Christine Mboma shines at 200m race
18-year-old Mboma who earlier in June set a world under-20 400m record of 48.54sec went ahead to win her diamond league debut in 21.84 sec. "It was my first Diamond League experience and to be able to win in such a strong field is great," said Mboma. Shericka Jackson clocked 21.95 to come in second while Britain’s world 200m champion Dina Asher came in third with a season-best of 22.04.
All eyes are on Thompson and Duplantis as the diamond league season comes to an end.
The 2021 Diamond League athletics season comes to an end this week in Switzerland at the Weltklasse Zürich, serving as the single meet for the Diamond League Final where 32 athletes will be crowned champions for the season, on Wednesday and Thursday (8–9 September). It will be interesting to see the brilliant athletes who will go home with the diamond trophy. You simply cannot afford to miss this.
