Simiyu, Relin win Nakuru City Marathon
Daniel Simiyu Clocked an impressive 59 minutes 03 seconds to win the men’s 21km as Catherine Relin who came second in the Eldama Ravine Half Marathon last month clocked 1:07:29 to win the women’s category. Godfrey Kipchumba came in second place while Felix Kibitok came in third in the men’s category in 59:42 and 60:00 respectively.
In the women’s race, Gladys Chepkirui timed 1:07:32 to finish in second place while Chebet came in third in 1:07:40.

Kenya bags 160 medals at Masters Athletics Championship
The 13th Africa master’s Athletics competition which is meant for athletes aged 35- 80years happened at the Nyayo National stadium this past weekend and Kenyan Athletes put up an exceptional performance topping the continental chart after bagging 160 medals in total.
In the 1500m, it was a clean sweep for all the positions as Chesebe Abednego led the pack to victory in 3:56:02 seconds. Kyeva came in second as Kipchirchir finished third.
In other races, Ines Chenonge who is a two-time Commonwealth bronze medal winner reclaimed herself by winning the half marathon in 1:26:12.
Kenya went ahead to dominate the 800m in all age groups as well as the 3000m steeplechase men and 2000m steeplechase women.
“Athletics is a lifetime career and only ends when you die…. When you remain active it keeps you in good shape and health” said Kyeva after the competitions. We couldn’t agree more!

Cybrian Kotut wins Florence Marathon
Kenya’s Cybrian Kotut crossed the finish line in 2:08:59 recording the second-fastest time in the history of the Florence marathon missing the record by a mere 17 seconds. Compatriot Samuel Lomoi came in second place in 2:09:54 as Olivier Irabaruta from Burundi finished third in 2:10:13.
In the women’s category, Ethiopian Tsehay Maru crossed the finish line in 2:27:14 recording the fourth-fastest time in Florence Marathon history. Compatriot Megertu Geletu finished second in 2:27:21 while Kenya’s Mercy Kwambai came third in 2:27:32.

Jakob Ingebrigsten set to compete at European Cross country In Dublin
Olympic 1500 m Champion Jakob Ingebrigsten who made headlines in the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics is set to compete at the European cross country Championships after being named in Norway’s team.
